Midtown Night Market coming to Cambodia Town

Long Beachers with an appetite for fresh fruits and vegetables can look forward to having another shopping destination in town following the debut of a new farmers’ market for the Cambodia Town neighborhood.

Councilman Dee Andrews’ office aounced Thursday the new Midtown Night Market’s is Long Beach’s first night market event. Its inaugural evening is scheduled to take place July 10 at MacArthur Park. Plans call for vendors selling fruits, vegetables, grains and low-fat dairy products to do business there.

Organizers also plan to have places for live entertainment, fitness classes and other events that may range from yoga classes to lessons in financial literacy at the event, according to Andrews’ office.

Andrews assigned $10,000 in city funding for Midtown Night Market, which is scheduled to be managed by a nonprofit called Cambodia Town, Inc.

The first Midtown Night Market is scheduled to be open from 4 to 8 p.m. July 10 at MacArthur Park, 1321 E Anaheim St., Long Beach.
