Pedestrian in critical condition after North Long Beach crash

A crash in North Long Beach has closed East Artesia Boulevard between Butler Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard.

The accident happened at 6:48 a.m. at Artesia and Butler, according to Pulse Point, a smartphone application that broadcasts information about Fire Department calls.

A vehicle driven by a woman hit a man who was crossing Artesia on foot when the driver tried to make a left tu eastbound on Artesia, said Nancy Pratt, a police spokeswoman, in an email. The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The driver stayed at the scene, Pratt said.

What time the road might be reopened has not yet been determined because the investigation is ongoing.
