Close to 15,000 Southe Califoia Edison customers are without power – most of them due to a substation fire, an official said.
About 10,300 of the customers are located near Woodruff Avenue and Firestone Boulevard, and power is out to another 4,800 customers near Imperial Highway between Bellflower Boulevard and the 605 Freeway.
“We had a substation fire and right now we have about 10,000 of our customers in the Downey area out,” said Mary A Milbou, a spokeswoman with Southe Califoia Edison. “We’re working to re-work the circuit to get back (to power) as many as we can.”
The cause of the second outage was unclear.
