Hundreds of firefighters from the Losu2009Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service are still battling a pair of brush fires in the foothills and mountains north of the Sanu2009Gabriel Valley on Tuesday as a third day of extreme heat continues to add fuel to the fire.

A single canyon, about 1.5 miles across, is the only thing separating the twin fires buing in the San Gabriel Mountains moving west above Azusa, Duarte and Monrovia.

While no structures are threatened, fire officials waed at an afteoon press conference on Monday that changes in the wind patte could happen without waing.

Here’s what we know (Tuesday 7 a.m.):

• The two fires are 1.5 miles apart. They have not merged.

• The Fish fire has scorched 2,000 acres.

• The Reservoir fire has bued 1,500 acres.

• Both fires have 0% containment.

• Hundreds of fire fighting persoel, including air drops, are fighting the fires.

• No structures have been damaged.

• Evacuations are in place for Azusa communities of Mountain Cove; Rainbow Ranch; Duarte Mesa above Markwood Street between Westvale Road and Tocino Drive; Duarte residents above Conata Street between Tocino Drive and Mountain Crest Road

• An evacuation center has been set up at 1600 Huntington Drive in Duarte. Large animal, such as horses, can be taken to the Pomona Fairplex.

• The Reservoir fire appears to have started after a car went over the road on Highwayu200939 near Morris Dam around 11u2009a.m. Monday, officials said. The driver of the car was killed in the crash. The cause of the Fish fire is still under investigation.
