Awards show speeches are not typically powerful critiques of life in this country.
But “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams’ speech, which he gave when picking up the Humanitarian award recognizing his work as an activist, was a stirring, provocative take on life for African Americans and a serious demand for justice. He drew a standing ovation and a look of incredible pride on the face of his parents.
