
Long Beach police aounced Monday that three people have been arrested in coection with the murder of Geron Lacy, 16, on May 3 at Ramona Park.
Lacy had been involved in a fight with the three suspects shortly before his shooting death, police said.
Those arrested include:
• Maria Martha Macias, 23, of Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of murder. She was arraigned on June 20, and is being held at Los Angeles County Jail with bail set at $3 million.
• Tyrone Devonte Moy, 19, of Los Angeles, was arrested on suspicion of murder and being an ex-felon with a gun. He was arraigned June 24, and is being held at Los Angeles County Jail with bail set at $3,035,000.
• Marvin Tyree Lard, 19, of Bellflower, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was arraigned Monday, and is being held at Los Angeles County Jail with bail set at $3 million.
Police said that at about 6:50 p.m. May 3, the suspects and Lacy got into a fight. The suspects left, but retued a short time later and shot Lacy in the upper torso.
Lacy was declared dead at the scene.
Family and friends gathered for a vigil three days after Lacy’s death. His mother, Maria Casiano-Smith, said her son was a sweet, smart child who wanted to be an engineer, and played the lead in a production of “James and the Giant Peach,” at their church, Light and Life Community Center.
“My son was beautiful,” Casiano-Smith said shortly after his death. “I’m hurt.”
Lacy’s uncle said the teenager had been playing basketball at the park when the fight occurred, and Lacy was shot while walking home.
The incident is being investigated as gang-related, though his family earlier said Lacy was not involved in gang life.
