San Pedro man shot outside Torrance restaurant

TORRANCE >> A San Pedro man was shot early Saturday as he stood in front of a Torrance restaurant, police said.

The 29-year-old man was standing in the parking lot of Ramona’s Mexican Delicatessen, 16300 Crenshaw Blvd., at 1:05 a.m. when a sedan pulled up to him. Someone inside fired shots, hitting the victim several times and then the car took off, Torrance police Lt. Robert Watt said.

The victim was taken to a hospital. His wounds were not considered life-threatening, Watt said.

Police are investigating whether the crime was gang-related, Watt said.

“Due to the time of night, we believe there were witnesses to this unfortunate incident and we encourage anyone who was in the area or may have seen something to contact the Torrance Police Department,” Watt said.
