Amazon to offer one- and two-hour delivery options on Prime Day

Amazon is gearing up for its second aual Prime Day on Tuesday.

Prime Day, a kind of Cyber-Monday-in-July event, will feature more than 100,000 deals worldwide. Los Angeles-area shoppers who use the company’s super-fast Prime Now service will get their purchases delivered in one or two hours, depending upon which option they choose.

To participate in Prime Day, sign-up or start a free trial of Prime on or before July 12, visit amazon.com/primeday.

“Following last year’s record sales, we have dramatically increased the inventory behind many deals,” Amazon Prime Vice President Greg Greeley said in a statement. “In fact, in the U.S. we have nearly double the TV units compared to Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.”

Prime Now will feature deals on select items each day begiing on Wednesday ufeffthrough Prime Day on July 12. During that time, members who place their first-ever Prime Now order using the promotional code 10PRIMENOW will receive $10 off that order, as well a promotional code for an additional $10 to shop on Prime Now later in the month.

Through Prime Now, Amazon also offers free delivery in one hour or less from local restaurants in 12 metropolitan areas across the U.S. Prime members in eligible restaurant delivery areas who make a qualifying purchase on July 12 on the Amazon.com or Primenow.com websites or apps will receive a promotional code for $20 off a future Amazon Restaurants order.

Prime Now is currently offered to Prime members in such cities as Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Berkeley, Cinciati, Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas.
