Long Beach 'Kitty Hall' adoption event returns at height of kitten season

Queen Elsa and Princess Aa may be among dozens of cats and kittens available for adoption at Long Beach “Kitty Hall” on Friday.

Long Beach Animal Care Services Manager Ted Stevens said the pair of kitten sisters, named after lead characters in the Disney film Frozen, will be on display at City Hall for the second aual pet adoption event, provided they aren’t rescued before then.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents can wander into the lobby at City Hall, where they will find 35 to 40 cats and kittens available for a discounted $20 adoption fee. The public is invited to play with and cuddle the pets, he said. The city will provide carriers and spay and neuter vouchers for kittens.

The adoption event comes at the height of kitten season, Stevens said, adding that P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village, the city’s local shelter, currently has over 100 cats and kittens waiting for families to take them in.
