Man allegedly wielding knife killed in Bell officer-involved shooting

BELL — An officer-involved shooting in Bell today left a man dead after he allegedly lunged toward officers with a knife.

Paramedics sent at 8:24 a.m. to the 7100 block of Atlantic Avenue took the suspect to a hospital, according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The man died, sheriff’s officials told reporters at the shooting scene.

No officers were injured, Medrano said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man had argued with a woman, and when officers were sent to the scene, he lunged at them with a knife and was shot.
