Man shot to death in Bell

BELL — A man was shot to death today in a vehicle in Bell, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of Riverside Avenue, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The man in his 20s died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending notification of kin.

“Officers from the Bell Police Department were dispatched to the residence in response to a ‘gunshot’ call,” Deputy Guillermina Saldana said.

“When they arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into the location’s detached garage,” Saldana said. “Inside the vehicle, a man sitting in the front seat was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.”

A witness told authorities that a man on a bicycle was seen leaving the location shortly after the shooting, Saldana said. It was not known if he was involved in the crime.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting Bell police in the investigation. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives at (323) 890-5500.
