Wanted North Carolina man with LA County coections sought by FBI

LOS ANGELES >> The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old man with ties to Los Angeles and Orange counties who is suspected of killing his wife at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The body of Iris Armstrong, a human resources specialist assigned to the 189th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Airboe Division Sustainment Brigade, was discovered July 6 in the Nijmegen neighborhood home on Fort Bragg she shared with Jason Earl Armstrong Jr., according to the FBI.

The FBI said James Armstrong allegedly killed his wife on July 1. A federal arrest warrant was issued in the U.S. District Court in the Easte District of North Carolina on July 8.

Iris Armstrong, who joined the Army in October 2012, was found stabbed and beaten, according to her death certificate, the Fayetteville Observer reported. The state medical examiner ruled her death was caused by sharp and blunt force injuries.

The FBI said James Armstrong was seen on a surveillance video using his wife’s debit card shortly after the murder.

The agency did not elaborate on James Armstrong’s ties to Southe Califoia, but said he also has ties to South Carolina, Atlanta, New Orleans, Amarillo, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona. He is described as a 6-foot tall black man weighing between 150 to 160 pounds.

Members of the public were waed not to approach the suspect.

The FBI’s Charlotte office asked anyone with any information regarding Armstrong’s whereabouts to call them at (704) 672-6100.
