6 Pokemon Go! questions for Pikachu at Comic-Con 2016

SAN DIEGO >> In case you haven’t heard, Pokemon Go! is taking over the world, and Comic-Con Inteational is no exception.

As always, Pikachu is among the most sought-after Pokemon in the game, which has made it all the more interesting to dress up as Ask Ketchum’s sidekick at Comic-Con.

We caught up with 20-year-old Denise Zesati, who’s spending the entire convention as Pikachu, to ask her what’s it been like so far.

Q What inspired you to cosplay as Pikachu?

A My love of Pokemon since I was a kid.

Q Did you second guess your decision to dress as Pikachu after Pokemon Go got so big?

A Oh, no! No, I’m actually living the dream right now with Pokemon Go! I’m glad that everyone’s enjoying it, because I was the only weirdo walking around with Pokemon stuff for a long time.

Q How many people have stopped you to make a joke about catching you?

A Oh, God. Right now, probably at least 100 times within 10 minutes. But it’s fuy. Especially with older people who are like, “Look! I caught Pikachu without playing the game!” It’s pretty cool.

Q Are you playing Pokemon Go?

A Yes.

A Instinct. Whoo!

Q Where did you get your Pikachu head?

A I made it. I have a full mascot suit, but in San Diego it’s kind of hot so I did Pikachu in a kimono for Comic-Con.
