
A man killed in a fiery crash on the 605 Freeway early Sunday moing in Long Beach has been identified by authorities.
Angel Raul Avila-Alvarez, 24, of Buena Park, was killed at about 2:35 a.m. on the freeway just south of Spring Street, when his Toyota Corolla veered toward the shoulder and then across all lanes of traffic, according to Califoia Highway Patrol officer Michele Bond.
A good Samaritan tried to pull the victim out of the car, according to the CHP.
The crash initially closed the carpool and No. 1 lanes, according to the CHP. But all northbound lanes were temporarily closed so firefighters could extinguish the car fire and the CHP could conduct its accident and death investigation.
