
A 35-year-old Long Beach man pleaded not guilty to one count of robbery Tuesday afteoon.
Lorenzo Lemont Jones was arrested Dec. 18 after officers were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. to a robbery that occurred at a residence in the area of Redondo Avenue and 1st Street, police said. He is due back in court March 1 for a pre-trial conference.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a man later identified as Jones assaulted the victim, a 65-year-old woman, after entering her home, and took her personal property.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, police said. During their investigation, detectives discovered the victim’s vehicle was taken from her residence. They located the vehicle later that night in the area of Hill Street and Gale Avenue.
The driver was arrested and identified as Jones, police said.
Police held him in custody for violation of parole for robbery while detectives put together their case, said Sgt. Bradley Johnson, a police spokesman, in an email.
A felony robbery charge was filed Feb. 19 against him, police said. He is being held at Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail on $260,000 bail.
