
Long Beach police have reopened streets near Bixby Park that officers closed Friday moing during an investigation of a suspicious device found in the area.
Responders determined the device that prompted the closures and concurrent evacuation of Bixby Park was an empty one-gallon gasoline container with wire wrapped around its handle, Long Beach Police Sgt. Bradley Johnson said in an email.
The discovery of the suspicious device happened about 9 a.m. Friday near the crossing of First Street and Cherry Avenue, police Sgt. Bradley Johnson said in an email.
Police aounced shortly after 11:15 a.m. that officers had reopened the streets to motorists.
