Crews work to recover bodies near Mount Wilson believed to be missing Fontana teens

ANGELES CREST HIGHWAY >> Search and rescue crews are working Tuesday to recover the bodies believed to be those of the three missing Fontana teens after a truck was found hundreds of feet down a ravine along Angeles Crest Highway near Mount Wilson.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is handling the recovery effort, officials said Tuesday moing.

While the three bodies found inside the white truck have not been positively identified as Daniel Gamboa, 19, Kasey Vance, 18 and Samantha Oelas, 17, all of Fontana, authorities say the vehicle matches the description of Gamboa’s missing 2008 Toyota Tundra.

The trio left their homes Saturday, telling family members they were going hiking, possibly near Mount Wilson. When they didn’t retu, family called Fontana police.

Police say Gamboa’s credit card was used early Sunday moing in Rancho Cucamonga, but they’re unsure if it was the teen who made the purchase.

About an hour before the wreckage was found Monday evening, the teen’s family members held a press conference in Fontana pleading for their safe retu.

Montrose search and rescue members trekked down the ravine to the crash site and discovered the three bodies inside.

The incident is being investigated by the Califoia Highway Patrol as a fatal crash.
