Woman, 3-year-old girl killed in Long Beach shooting

LONG BEACH >> A 26-year-old woman was shot dead and a 3-year-old girl was fatally wounded in a shooting in Long Beach, the Coroner’s Office said Sunday.

A coroner’s representative was sent sometime after 2 a.m. to East Ninth Street and Locust Avenue, where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigator Selena Barros of the Coroner’s Office.

Paramedics rushed the toddler to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries, Barros said.

A watch commander with the Long Beach Police Department could not be reached for comment.
