1,000 ecstasy pills, gun seized in Long Beach probation sweep

Authorities arrested six men, seized 1,000 ecstasy pills and confiscated a gun and ammunition during a probation sweep targeted at local gang members and other violent convicts in Long Beach, police said.

According to a post on the Long Beach Police Department’s Facebook page, the operation consisted of a team from the LBPD, the L.A. County Probation Department and Homeland Security Investigations contacting probationers in the city to make sure they were abiding by the terms of their release.

The team contacted 18 people on Aug. 11 and arrested six of them on suspicion of violating their parole, according to Long Beach police.

Some of the alleged probation violations included being a felon in possession of a firearm, drug possession with intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of ammunition, police said.

All the men arrested were men between the age of 19 and 38.
