Multiple felony charges were filed Wednesday against a man and a woman suspected of carrying out a series of street robberies in Long Beach.
Miguel Angel Giron, 22, of Los Angeles, and Daisy Uzarraga, 25, of Wilmington, are facing more than 10 counts each stemming from the robberies in which police alleged they approached pedestrians while armed with a knife and demanded personal items and money between Jan. 18 and Feb. 5. The robberies happened in Long Beach Police Department’s West Division patrol area.
No victims were injured during the robberies, police said.
Patrol officers and detectives identified Giron and Uzarraga as two possible suspects, and arrested the two Feb. 7. Detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attoey’s Office for filing consideration on Feb. 9. Prosecutors filed six felony counts of robbery against each suspect.
They were arraigned the same day. Giron was held on $405,000 bail and Uzarraga was held on $300,000 bail.
While the two remained in custody, detectives found they were responsible for more crimes and presented the additional crimes for filing consideration to the District Attoey’s Office.
The criminal complaint was amended on Wednesday.
Giron was charged with a total of 14 felonies — nine counts of robbery, three counts of criminal threats, one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of attempted robbery. His bail was increased to $605,000.
Uzarraga was charged with 11 felonies — 10 counts of robbery and one count of criminal threats. Her bail was increased to $400,000.
Both remain in custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and are expected to retu to Long Beach Superior Court March 9.
