Long Beach police, FBI arrest man who may have impersonated police

Long Beach police and agents from the FBI arrested a man in Rolling Hills Estates Tuesday on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.

Detectives from the department’s Drug Investigations Section and FBI served the search warrant at a residence in Rolling Hills Estates, police said Thursday. The suspect was identified as Jayson Paul Carter, 42.

Detectives recovered false identifications representing state and federal law enforcement agencies, police said. He was booked into Long Beach Jail for impersonating a police officer and carrying a concealed loaded firearm. He was released after posting $35,000 bail later that day.

Detectives encourage anyone who may have been detained by Carter while representing himself as a police officer or a federal agent to come forward and speak to police.

Carter may have contacted individuals in San Diego and Los Angeles counties, and in the Northe Califoia area.
