Disclosure reports outline Long Beach public officials financial picture

Officials’ latest disclosure reports show itemized contributions and expenditures for the final six months of 2015, as well as totals for the entire year. The summaries:

• Mayor Robert Garcia’s officeholder committee’s collections for the past year totaled at just 50 cents below $64,508. His committee spent $56,263 over the same time period.

Contributors giving $1,000 donations to Garcia’s committee include power company AES, Long Beach Police Officers Association PAC, Califoia Resources Corp. executive vice president for public affairs Charles F. Weiss, real estate brokerage DOMA Properties, Inc., Califoia Teamsters Public Affairs Council and BNSF Railway Co.

Garcia’s committee also gave a $5,000 donation to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, $2,500 to Centro CHA, a charity serving Latino youths, paid $2,500 for a sponsorship to the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy and $500 to the Long Beach Democratic Club.

• City Attoey Charles Parkin’s committee collected $300 in 2015 and spent $3,580. Joe Jost’s owner Ken Buck gave the sole contribution to Parkin’s committee.

Parkin’s donations and expenditures included Long Beach NAACP ($250); Long Beach City College Foundation ($110); Rotary Club of Long Beach ($466.72).

• City Prosecutor Doug Haubert’s committee raised $26,650 and spent about $14,158.

Contributors included law firm Henry A. Salcido, a Professional Corp. ($1,000); Inteational Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 13 ($1,000); attoey Samuel Keesal Jr. ($1,000); Laborers’ Inteational Union of North America Local 1309 ($1,000); Operating Engineers Local Union No. 12 Political Fund ($1,000); Law Offices of Glaser, Damone and Schroeder ($1,000); Signal Hill Petroleum ($1,000).

Donations and expenditures included Long Beach Police Foundation ($400); Mothers Against Drunk Driving ($900); NAACP Long Beach ($600); St. Mary Medical Center Foundation ($400) and $679 for a holiday party at Robert Earl’s BBQ.

• City Auditor Laura Doud does not maintain an officeholder campaign.

•Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez spent $21,649 during 2015 and spent $18,765 of that amount.

Contributors include the Teamsters’ DRIVE Committee ($750), Inteational Brotherhood of Electrical Workers ($750); Tesoro Cos. ($750).

Gonzales’ committee donated to such organizations as Cambodian Association of America ($100); American Veterans for Equality - LA Chapter ($100); Centro CHA ($1,000); Long Beach Democratic Club ($280; Los Angeles County Democratic Party ($837) and the Museum of Latin American Art ($500).

• Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal collected $18,026 and spent $15,771 during the last calendar year.

Major contributors to Lowenthal’s office holder committee included Shoreline Village property manager Debra Fixen ($750); lobbyist Matthew Knabe of Englander, Knabe and Allen ($750); Long Beach Yellow Cab Collective, Inc. ($750); Mitsubishi Cement Corp. ($250).

Her contributions include ArtExchange Long Beach ($250); Stanford Middle School PTA ($1,000); The LGBTQ Center Long Beach ($250); Democratic Women’s Study Club of Long Beach ($100); Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club ($600), Long Beach AIDS Food Store ($220).

Her committee also spent $1,150 at College of the Ozarks Fruitcake Kitchen.

• Councilwoman Suzie Price’s committee collected $30,000 and spent $23,598 last year.

Contributors included Inteational Union of Operating Engineers PAC ($750); Apartment Association of Southe Califoia, Southe Cities ($500); Laborers Inteational Union Local 1309 ($750); Long Beach Yellow Cab Cooperative ($750); lobbyist Matthew Knabe ($500); law firm Henry Salcido, a Professional Corp. ($750); BNSF Railway Co. ($750); Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce ($750); Long Beach Firefighters PAC ($750); Oxbow Carbon ($750); Long Beach Hotel Properties ($750) and Solid Landings Behavioral Health community outreach manager Natali Schmitz ($750).

Price’s contributions and expenditures include Los Angeles County Democratic Party ($148); Democratic Women’s Study Club of Long Beach ($100); Wilson Cheer Boosters ($250); Steel Magnolias ($450); Ronald McDonald House ($125); Bluff Park Neighborhood Association ($500); Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust ($200); Lowell Bayside Elementary PTA ($250); Dramatic Allied Arts Guild ($150); Long Beach Neighborhood Foundation ($500); Los Alamitos National Junior Basketball League ($300); Mothers Against Drunk Driving ($800) and Long Beach NAACP Founders Committee ($125).

• Councilman Daryl Supeaw’s committee collected $35,109 and spent $20,743 in all of 2015.

Supeaw received no contributions during the second half of the year, the period covered by the filing period.

His contributions and expenses included Historical Society of Long Beach ($200); New Hope Grief Support Community ($100); Miller Children’s Hospital ($100); Long Beach Police Foundation ($300); fundraising at The Wine Country in Signal Hill ($281); Ronald McDonald House ($200) and Wilson High School PTA ($250).

• Councilwoman Stacy Mungo collected $18,956 and spent nearly $12,268 in 2015.

Contributors included AES ($500); Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters PAC ($750); JetBlue Airways Corp. Crewmember Good Govement Fund ($249); Oxbow Carbon, LLC vice president Clayton Headley ($750) and Worthington Ford President Nick Worthington ($750).

Her contributions and expenditures included Long Beach Community Garden Association ($335); nearly $3,978 in reimbursements to herself for costs including T-shirts and office supplies.

• Councilwoman Dee Andrews closed out his officeholder account last year.

• Councilman Roberto Uranga’s committee raised $25,420 and spent $22,643.

Contributors included public affairs firm Lee Andrews Group ($750); Tesoro Cos. Inc. ($750); Consensus Inc. real estate advisor Richard Percell ($750); PSKW, LLC senior director for new business development Clay Tucker ($750).

PSKW has offices in Newport Beach and describes itself as a loyalty marketing firm that works in the field of medical co-pays.

Uranga’s contributions and expenses include the Long Beach Democratic Club ($250); fundraising at Borracho Tacos in Buena Park ($475); Democratic Women’s Club of Long Beach ($100); Califoia Heights Neighborhood Association ($385); Fostering a Change ($150); Goals for Life Foundation ($1,500); Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy ($250), Long Beach Neighborhood Foundation ($300), Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation ($100) and Why’d You Stop Me ($600).

Uranga retued a $750 contribution from Integral Communities principal C. Evan Knapp. Integral Communications, which has offices in Newport Beach, recently received approval to build new homes on the site of a former Boy Scout camp within an area between Bixby Knolls and North Long Beach.

• Councilman Al Austin raised $25,632 last year and spent just shy of $15,044.

Contributors included American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 57 PAC ($500); Inteational Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 11 PAC ($750); BNSF Railway Co. ($750); United Auto Workers Region 5 Weste States PAC ($750); Signal Hill Petroleum, Inc. ($500).

• Councilman Rex Richardson collected $29,465 last year and spent $33,339.

Contributors included the Apartment Association of Califoia, Southe Cities ($500); Integral Communities principal C. Evan Knapp ($750); Clear Chael Outdoor, Inc. ($750); Oxbow Carbon, LLC ($750); Local 770 United Food and Commercial Workers PAC ($750); Solid Landings Behavioral Health community outreach manager Natali M. Schmitz ($750); Solid Landings Behavioral Health Director Adam Shandrow ($750), Tesoro Cos. ($750); United Pacific Railroad Co. ($500).
