Long Beach police surround flower shop in Wrigley area in search of robber

A Long Beach police SWAT team has surrounded a Wrigley area flower shop with guns drawn in pursuit of a robbery suspect, officials said.

The call came in shortly after noon near the intersection of Willow Street and Maine Avenue. Police, along with SWAT and a K-9 unit, has the 710 Flower Shop at 690 W. Willow St. surrounded.

Police believe the suspect may have barricaded himself or herself inside, according to Sgt. Bradley Johnson of the Long Beach Police Department.

The westbound lanes of Willow Street are shut down, though the eastbound lanes heading toward the Port of Long Beach are open.

Police issued an advisory to avoid eastbound Willow Street from the 710 Freeway to Golden Avenue due to police activity.
