A Long Beach woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend before driving him to a hospital was charged with murder Friday.
Yvoe Marie Pina, 32, pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned in Long Beach Superior Court Friday. She is being held on $1.02 million bail. Her next court date is March 14.
Pina and her boyfriend — 21-year-old Aaron Flores — were fighting for several days before the stabbing and fought again Tuesday, said Sarah Ardalani, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attoey’s Office, in a statement. Flores tried to leave in Pina’s car but wasn’t able to, so he asked to use a neighbor’s phone.
Pina allegedly retued to their home in the 1800 block of East Hardwick Street to get a knife, Ardalani said, in her statement. Flores was still on the phone outside when she stabbed him. He asked for help and Pina drove him to a hospital.
The police investigation began after officers were dispatched to the hospital at 6:16 p.m.
Flores died of his injuries a short time later, Long Beach police said.
