Southern California gas prices on the rise

LOS ANGELES >> The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent today to $2.577, the ninth consecutive increase.

The average price has risen 21.6 cents over the past nine days, including four-tenths of a cent on Friday, and is 8 cents higher than one week ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, the average price is 11.7 cents less than a month ago and 96 cents lower than at this time last year after dropping 71.4 cents during a stretch of 49 decreases in 50 days that immediately preceded the increases.

The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent to $2.556, also the the ninth consecutive increase.

The Orange County average price has risen 21 cents over the past nine days, including seven-tenths of a cent on Friday, and is 7.5 cents higher than one week ago.

But the Orange County average price is 11.3 cents less than a month ago and 96.6 cents lower than this time last year after dropping 72.3 cents during a stretch of 49 decreases in 50 days that immediately preceded the increases, falling to its lowest amount since May 5, 2009.
