A 21-year-old Long Beach man is behind bars after crashing into a Long Beach police patrol car in the Memorial Heights neighborhood early Saturday.
Police allege Clint Parker was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his Nissan Altima into the police cruiser in the 3200 block of Long Beach Boulevard. Officers were already at the scene around 1:20 a.m. investigating an earlier crash when Parker “failed to slow or stop and collided with a police vehicle, which had its overhead lights activated.”
No officers were inside the vehicle when the crash happened and no one was injured, said Marlene Arrona, a police spokeswoman.
The police vehicle Parker struck belonged to an officer assisting at the scene of an injury crash that happened almost two hours before.
Officers were dispatched to that injury crash involving a single vehicle at 11:53 p.m. Friday in the area of Spring Street and Long Beach Boulevard, Arrona said. There they found an overtued Ford Mustang.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the driver to a hospital, she said. The driver’s condition was not available Saturday night.
