Ben Carson endorsing Donald Trump at businessman's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida

Former GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson has just endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Retired surgeon Carson made the endorsement in a speech Friday moing from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.

After a short speech about their shared vision for America, Carson ceded the podium to Trump, the GOP front-ruer who launched into a news conference, saying, “I’m a big thinker, (and many of my ideas) have worked out.”

Trump pledged to give Carson a large role in his campaign.

“Ben was always very strong on policy,” Trump said of his former rival.

At the press conference, Carson, who left the race earlier this month, described “two Donald Trumps” — the persona reflected on stage, and a private, “very cerebral” person who “considers things carefully.”

In his introduction to Carson Friday, Trump described the retired neurosurgeon as a “special, special person — special man,” and a “friend” who is respected by everyone.

Carson waed that it is “extremely dangerous” when political parties attempt to “thwart the will of the people,” and urged politicians to “strengthen the nation,” rather than create divisions.
