Find out the results of a DUI checkpoint in Long Beach Friday night

Long Beach police arrested one person on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI driver’s license checkpoint Friday night on westbound Pacific Coast Highway at Daisy Avenue.

The checkpoint, from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, netted the following:

• 516 vehicles screened

• Four field sobriety tests performed

• One DUI suspect arrested

• 14 drivers cited for operating a vehicle on suspended or revoked license

Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public, police said Saturday.

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
