Long Beach officials aounced Monday the first changes in 30 years to its street sweeping schedule, eliminating the 4 a.m. times across all neighborhoods.
Most of the scheduling changes will occur in parking-impacted neighborhoods. Other neighborhoods will not be affected.
Here are some of the specific changes:
• Ocean Boulevard from Cherry Avenue to Park Avenue, and Alamitos Avenue from Ocean to Anaheim, will move to the 6-8 a.m. time slot.
• The area bordered by Alamitos Avenue, Cherry Avenue, Ocean Boulevard and 7th Street will now have two-hour windows that start after 9 a.m.
• The 4-6 a.m. parking restrictions will be eliminated in Downtown Long Beach south of Anaheim Street (with the exception of areas around schools).
• All routes in parking-impacted areas will have two-hours time slots only.
The changes will be phased in over one year. Thousands of signs will be changed to reflect the new schedule.
Residents are urged to check signs, as restrictions will still be imposed until signs are changed. The new schedule goes into effect Monday, and rolled over the next year.
