The public on Saturday is invited to a groundbreaking for the Locust Tot Lot featuring a play structure for kids, picnic tables and other amenities.
The formerly vacant lot, about 4,000 square feet, is located at 2331 Locust Ave. in the Wrigley area.
Mayor Robert Garcia, Councilman Dee Andrews and other city officials will attend the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Locust Tot Lot will feature a colorful play structure for 2- to 5-year-olds, with climbing and exploratory features and a slide. The playground will also feature a set of swings, safety surfacing, and a series of interactive play panels. A seating area will include two benches and two picnic tables coected by an ADA accessible walkway, as well as a bike rack, trees and mulch.
