A man who allegedly ran from police after violating a restraining order is behind bars following an hours-long SWAT search in North Alamitos Beach early Wednesday.
Police were called at 1:57 a.m. to a possible restraining order violation in the 1800 block of East Sixth Street, said Sgt. Bradley Johnson in an email. The caller told dispatchers that the suspect might be armed. A handgun was found in the area where the suspect was last seen fleeing officers.
Neither the man’s name nor what charges he was being booked under were available as of 9 a.m., but he is believed to be the caller’s ex-boyfriend, Johnson said.
After they arrived, officers saw someone they believed to be the suspect run from them and jump over fences, he said. Police set up a containment perimeter and called out SWAT.
The man was arrested at 7:55 a.m., Johnson said.
More to come.
