3 injured in Long Beach shooting

A man and two women were injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Long Beach’s Wrigley District.

Officers were dispatched to a hospital around 10:50 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim who walked into the emergency room, said Sgt. Bradley Johnson, a police spokesman, in an email. The patient, an adult man, was suffering gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The injuries appeared to be non life-threatening.

While officers were investigating, hospital staff told them two women, both suffering gunshot wounds, had walked into the ER, Johnson said. Their injuries also appeared to be non life-threatening. One woman was struck in the upper torso and the other in the lower torso.

Investigators found that all three victims were in the same vehicle when they were shot by unknown assailants, he said. The victims told officers the shooting might have happened in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Avenue, but provided few other details.

Officers did not find a crime scene, Johnson said. The shooting is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
