Long Beach police, including a helicopter unit, combed through part of Alamitos Beach late Wednesday night after an individual led officers on a brief pursuit before crashing and fleeing on foot.
The pursuit began around 11:30 p.m. at Ocean and Cherry avenues, said Sgt. Bradley Johnson, a police spokesman. Officers saw a vehicle speeding and tried to pull it over. The driver sped off.
The driver crashed at 1st Street and Falcon Avenue a few minutes later before ruing off, Johnson said.
As of Thursday moing, police had not found the person.
