    Using shovels, power tools and a cadaver-sniffing dog, coroner’s investigators dug up the front yard of a Carson rental home Thursday in search of a body reportedly buried there. The search in the 21600 block of South Prospect Avenue tued up nothing through midafteoon, and investigators kept mum about whoever the murder victim might be. The tip that prompted the digging apparently came from a minor in protective custody, whom detectives described as a credible source. As reporters and cameras looked on, the juvenile was brought to the scene to show investigators where to look.     A homicide investigation led detectives today to a Carson home, which was being searched to determine if a body was buried at the location. Homicide detectives went to the 21600 block of Prospect Avenue about 7:45 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Coroner’s persoel were assisting in the search, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. “Detectives received credible information and served a search warrant,” according to the Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s Lt.   • Carson sheriff's deputies rescue two from burning house

    The fire broke out at about 5:30 a.m. while three people were inside a house at Elsmere and Huggins drives near StubHub Center, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department statement. One person ran outside but two were trapped in back bedrooms because of the fire, officials said. “The deputies and Los Angeles County Fire Department persoel removed security bars from a rear window and rescued the trapped residents,” the statement said. One person was not breathing and had to be resuscitated by paramedics and one deputy was treated for smoke inhalation, deputies said.     It took an urban search-and-rescue team to get an injured man down from a refinery tower in Carson, authorities said today. Los Angeles County firefighters were summoned at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday to the refinery in the 22600 block of South Wilmington Avenue, Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Oelas said. The team got the man off of the tower just before midnight, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment, Oelas said. He did not know the nature of the man’s injury.
